“2,000 Signatures Sets Us Free!”
We are your friends and neighbors living in the Incorporated Village of Patchogue.
We believe that the Village government is an unnecessary layer of bureaucracy and it should be dissolved with all Village functions and services to be taken over by the Town of Brookhaven.
• Reduce our Taxes
- The Village has duplicated the services provided by the Town of Brookhaven at a considerable
cost to us; by eliminating Village INC we should realize a considerable tax savings.
- As a result of controversial tactics in their dealings with our local businesses and residents,
multiple lawsuits have been filed against the Village. This behavior exposes us all too financial
liability in future tax increases as a result of the resulting litigation, settlement, and
judgment costs.
- Reducing taxes will make homes more affordable for future generations.
- Reducing taxes will make our community more attractive to new businesses.
- Dissolving the Village will eliminate the hidden tax of Village issued tickets.
• Initiatives to dissolve are supported by N.Y. State COMMISSION ON LOCAL
GOVERNMENT EFFICIENCY.
• Dissolving the Village will eliminate impediments to new businesses moving to our community
and will revitalize our downtown.
• The Village Government has created stricter and stricter laws and then enforces them in favor
to the politically connected.
• Yes! 37 New York communities have decided that an incorporated village is not an efficient form
of government and have chosen to dissolve them.
• New York State Governor Eliot Spitzer created the COMMISSION ON LOCAL GOVERNMENT
EFFICIENCY to study ways to reduce the cost of government. It was determined that the village
is inefficient and unnecessary form of government and should all be dissolved.

Many residents have expressed their concern that by supporting our cause, the Village Government will retaliate. Certainly, history tells us what they are capable of doing. Sadly, for most of us who are not political insiders, living in Patchogue, means living in a state of Fear. The primary objective in dissolving the Village government is to extinguish this fear.
The signed petition will be held in confidence until the 2,000 signatures are collected and the petition is delivered to the Village. We will handle all information in the strictest of confidence and we will honor those who would like to remain anonymous.
